FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is the price shown online my final price?

No. The online price is an estimate based on the measurements and options you enter and on dated supplier prices. Your confirmed quotation depends on checking measurements, product availability, the condition of your frames and any extra work.

What does the standard fitting allowance cover?

Standard fitting covers hanging a new internal door in an existing, sound frame: trimming the door to size within normal limits, fitting hinges, latch or lock and handles, and taking the old door off. It does not cover new frames or linings, structural changes, difficult access, disposal, decorating, fire doors or external doors — these are priced after assessment.

Is the fitting allowance added once per door?

Yes. Each standard internal door includes the fitting allowance exactly once. Two identical doors include it twice — once for each door. Fire doors and external doors do not use the standard allowance and are flagged for specialist review or survey.

How do I measure my doors?

Use the measuring step in the configurator. You can either measure your existing door (width, height and thickness) or measure the opening at several points. Diagrams show where to place the tape. You can enter millimetres or inches; the tool converts automatically and warns you about unusual measurements.

Can you work out my door size from a photo?

No. Photos help us understand your doors, frames and hinges, but a photo alone cannot give accurate dimensions. All sizes are confirmed before ordering or cutting.

What is the difference between unfinished, primed and prefinished doors?

Unfinished doors are bare timber or veneer and must be sealed, painted or oiled. Primed doors have a base coat ready for painting but still need top coats. Prefinished doors are finished in the factory and ready to use once fitted.

How many hinges does a door need?

A standard lightweight internal door usually hangs on two hinges. Heavier solid doors, taller doors and fire doors usually need three. The configurator suggests a quantity, which you can change; we confirm against the manufacturer’s instructions.

Do you fit fire doors?

Fire doors can be included in a project, but they are never priced with the standard fitting allowance. Fire doors must be installed to their certification with compatible fire-rated hardware, so every fire door is flagged for specialist review and survey.

Where do your door prices come from?

Product prices come from supplier listings recorded with the date they were checked. They are not live feeds, so they are confirmed with the supplier before your quotation is finalised. Any product or price that has not been verified is clearly labelled.

Is VAT included?

The price summary always states how VAT is treated. VAT is never added twice.

Can I save my project and come back later?

Yes. Your project is saved automatically in your browser. You can also save it to our system and get a private link to reopen it on another device.

Do I need an account?

No. You can design your doors and request a quotation as a guest.
