Fitting service
Internal door fitting: what’s included
Every standard internal door includes a fitting allowance of £75.00, itemised on each door and added exactly once per door.
Included in standard fitting
- Taking the existing door off its hinges
- Trimming the new door to fit the existing, sound frame (normal adjustment)
- Cutting in and fitting hinges, latch or lock and handles that you have chosen
- Checking the door opens, closes and latches correctly
Not included – priced after assessment
- New door frames or linings
- Structural alterations or changes to the size of the opening
- Difficult access (e.g. very tight stairs) or unusual working conditions
- Disposal of old doors
- Painting, staining or finishing doors
- Trimming beyond normal adjustment (e.g. for new flooring)
- Fire doors and fire-door installation to certification
- External doors (security, weatherproofing and frame work)
Fire doors and external doors
Fire doors must be installed exactly to their certification — correct gaps, intumescent protection, fire-rated hinges and latches and, where required, a closer. External doors involve security, weatherproofing and frame work. Neither is priced with the standard allowance: both are flagged for specialist review or survey.
Door pairs
French and double doors need extra hardware and careful alignment, so fitting a pair is priced after assessment.
Structural changes
Changing the size of an opening, or any other structural alteration, is outside the standard fitting allowance.
